
Visit the William Watson Hotel in Pittsfield and spend the night at one of the “Coolest Hotels in Illinois.” Built in 1838, by Pittsfield’s first settler, William Watson, it was likely visited by Stephen Douglas and Abraham Lincoln as they practiced at the old Pike County Courthouse. In 2008 is was renovated and reopened as the William Watson Hotel. It has 14 rooms, seven standard rooms and seven suites, and features period details like the original tin ceiling, wainscoting, and historical photographs.
