Wards Grove’s position, along with its large size, unbroken canopy, and mature understory make it a valuable site for sensitive bird species. The Acadian flycatcher, oven bird, American redstart, scarlet tanager, veery, pileated woodpecker, and black and white warbler can all be found in the forest. Hiking is on unmarked trails, though the rugged terrain can make walking difficult. Deer hunting is available, in order to manage the population and maintain the quality of the woodlands.
