Wapello Land and Water Reserve is a 79-acre site that offers easy hiking, nature viewing, cross-country skiing, and fishing in the Apple River. Wapello is also an archeological significant site; artifacts have been found on that date back 11,000 years and it is the location of a merging of Woodlanders and Mississippians into the Oneota culture. 1.8 miles of hiking trails wind through a prairie restoration project. The Apple River offers fishing for smallmouth bass, sunfish, crappie, and carp.
