Salt Lick Point Land and Water Reserve is a 600 acre reserve which includes one of the highest points in Monroe County. A combination of hill prairies and limestone glades, the diverse habitat is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna, including 150 species of birds and rare and endangered species like the shortleaf pine and the Indiana bat. A 5 mile trail system includes an easy walk along the base of the bluff, a moderate trail into the heart of the reserve and to several hill prairie overlooks, and a more challenging climb to the top of the bluff that offers beautiful views of the Mississippi River flood plain and St. Louis skyline.
