Nauvoo Temple

50 North Wells Street, Nauvoo IL 61028
See Quincy

The construction of the original Nauvoo Temple began around 1840. Before it was completed, the Latter-day Saints were forced to abandon Nauvoo. It was damaged by fire and a tornado before being torn down in 1867. The new temple was built on the footprint of the original temple and finished in 2002. Visitors can’t enter the temple but may take photos and walk around the grounds when open.
